Black Texas Business Alumni @ McCombs

MBAA
Building Connections &
Legacy of Impact
The McCombs Black Alumni Association, "MBAA", was founded in 2023 by graduates of the Texas McCombs MBA program to increase its impact on philanthropy, volunteerism, and advocacy among current students and alumni professionals of the MBA program.
We fuel Longhorn pride by creating powerful experiences that connect our alumni and current students. We encourage our members to utilize this group as a platform for expanding their professional success and personal growth.
We offer a variety of programs, including networking events, volunteering opportunities, social gatherings, and interactions with industry experts across multiple business functions.
We've also independently fundraised to award scholarships to students entering the McCombs MBA program through our 501(c)(3) non-profit, the Black Texas Business Alumni Council.
Our Activity

01
Annual Scholarship Gala
The annual gala is a highly anticipated event that brings together alumni from all over to celebrate their achievements and reconnect with old friends. The night is filled with entertainment, delicious food, and opportunities to network with fellow alumni.
02
Mentorship
A mentorship program that facilitates a connection between MBA students and alumni professionals can be a valuable resource for both parties. The program provides students with guidance and support as they navigate their academic and professional journeys, while alumni can benefit from the opportunity to give back to their alma mater and help next generation of business leaders. Through regular meetings and communication, mentors can offer insights, advice, and networking opportunities that can help students achieve their goals and succeed their careers.

03
Local Meetups
Attending happy hours and dinners for local alumni meet-ups is a great way to connect with fellow graduates and network with professionals in your field. For example, alumni can gather at happy hours during SXSW to discuss industry trends and share experiences. Similarly, Consortium OP offers opportunities for alumni to attend dinners and engage in professional development while connecting with other members of the community. Attending these events can help you build valuable relationships and advance your career.
04
BGBA Co-Sponsored Events
Alumni partnering with current MBA students can bring a wealth of benefits to both parties. By working together on programs and support, alumni can provide valuable insights and guidance to students while also gaining access to fresh perspectives and new ideas. This collaboration can help to build strong relationships and foster a sense of community within the MBA program.

Alumni Led Workshops
Alumni can give back to their alma mater by volunteering to present workshops to fellow members and students. These workshops can cover a variety of topics, from career advice to personal development.
